In Australia it is a good idea to start your search for a consultant by checking the Association of Feng Shui Consultants Australia web site to see if they are registered. The Association checks the legitimacy of qualifications and issues a membership card to their members.

Practitioners have different levels of knowledge and checking credentials is important. Some people can practice Feng Shui with just a certificate of attendance at a course, so check that the course has been successfully completed. Your consultant will be pleased to show you their certificates and identification cards.

Consultants should issue a written report, as the information given will be intensive. Always check prior to choosing your consultant that you are issued with a written report as some consultants only give verbal instructions and the amount of information given will be unlikely to be absorbed. The report should not be seen as a quick fix and changes should take place gradually. With a written report you are able to make your own notes alongside the consultants information.

Your Feng Shui consultant should have a deep understanding of the many Schools or Formulas of Feng Shui, and be able to interpret the information from each of these to enhance the auspicious energy in and around your home or office to best suit your individual needs.

Advanced Feng Shui formulas require the consultant to do in depth research into the layout of your home and environment, and it is important to remember that this is not a psychic reading and that you will be asked for a great deal of personal information.
